Parliament Day

A supercharged four-hour civics and citizenship incursion!

This extended program combines our Parliament Process and Parliament Experts incursions, offering an in-depth exploration of how Australia’s democracy works. Through interactive presentations, videos, and discussions, students delve into the foundations of democracy, the role of government, political systems, elections, and the law-making process.

Students step into the roles of politicians and voters, taking part in elections, a referendum, and two Federal Parliament debates. Using costumes, props, and role-play, they engage in the action while developing critical thinking, public speaking, and persuasive argument skills.

The day builds towards an exciting Senate debate, where students prepare and present speeches on a key issue. This comprehensive incursion keeps students engaged from start to finish, making civics and democracy both meaningful and memorable.
