Simply Democracy

Our Simply Democracy online course gives students a fun and engaging way to learn the Civics and Citizenship curriculum content.

Like our in-school and virtual incursions, this course offers a non-politically motivated, engaging and fun way for students to learn about a subject that can be tricky to teach!

Our Simply Democracy course includes pre-recorded and prepared video lessons, interactive quizzes and student activities. Students are able to complete the lessons at their own pace.

Teachers can use the Simply Democracy course:

  • to engage your students when remote learning

  • in the classroom as part of your inquiry unit

  • as excellent homework tasks to complement your teaching.

During the course, students will investigate important issues and questions such as:

  • What is politics?

  • What does the government actually do?

  • How does democracy work?

  • What happens in parliament?

  • How are laws made?

  • What is the Australian Constitution?

  • How does voting work?

Students will learn the fundamentals of democracy and government, examine different political systems, explore Australia’s law-making process, and even run their own preferential election!

Teachers can use the course on its own, or as an excellent addition to our Parliament Process and Virtual Parliament Process incursions.
